Maybe maybe not...25 lessons I've learnt

I applied to translate a small book from a photographer called Lorenzo to translate his book called 25 lessons I've learnt about photography, then the word is crossed out, and replace by about life.

The author posted the ad himself, and then asked for a 1500 word sample to be handed in for July 14 th, so that he chose among the 16 potential contractors...
I sent my draft on July 13th, waited the 14th, 15th, 16th, and the 17th, I followed up with an incentive mail. I told him that he could have sent a word saying he received the proposals and would review it...
It happened that the same week another potential client asked me two samples and seemed to have done it to many other translators since he did not give the job to anyone
...well Lorenzo was the receptacle for all my accumulated wrath...
I told him I thought he was a nice guy when reading him, but it was a shame he got the wrong number. Indeed, 26 would have been better if he had learnt politeness and would have dropped a line to say he received it... Well I guess he must have great feelings for me... Two days later he apologized, telling about personal reasons. Maybe I should learn being patient...
Well wait and see.... In case, I've started the first five lessons; so 20 to go.
The decision will be taken by the begining of August... Let's be patient!
While waiting, let's enjoy the people passing by!!

Subtitles Forget Paris

I recently finished the subtitling of a film... "Forget Paris"
It was a new and enriching experience.
I got the job on Saturday at about noon, it took me the whole afternoon or nearly to download and run through the settings, and get the film, and get started...
It did not take me so long to understand that it would be hard to respect the deadline. Indeed, the film was due the following Monday... So it meant I had only the weekend to do it.
The film was 100 mn long, and the first minute took me more than 20 mn!
You have to respect the layout, a maximum of 40 characters per line, spaces included, and you must not use more than 2 lines... At first, it was quite difficult, but it got easier as I went along. Sometimes it is   really annoying  because You have to start  again a cue you are  pleased with only because there is one comma too many!... So enraging...
Well, the work is done, and the client happy, even though I would have loved to have more time to think things over.. But well..it could have been better, but it wasn't that bad.
I worked all Sunday, from 7am to 2 am and got up on Monday morning at 7 again to keep up with the deadline.
When the end of the film came, it was a bit romantic, I was so knackered that I started to cry while watching the film!!!

I would love to do it again.... But not at the same rate!....
